Kira Grünberg

Hey everybody! I have just been hearing a lecture in our school by a young lady today. Her name is Kira Grünberg, she is well-known for her past sport carrier in pole vaulting. Kira was born on 13 th August 1993 in Innsbruck and she started athletics when she was 7. After some years she started with pole vaulting and got very famous with her successes. In August 2014 she even made a new record at the European Championship in Zürich with 4,45m. Almost everyone was sure that she would qualify for the Olympic Summer Games in Rio in 2016. But on 30 th June 2015 she had a really bad accident, which changed her life from one day to the other. She broke her fifth cervical vertebra because she landed on her neck and not on the mat. Hi guys! Today I'm going to tell you something about an interesting article which I was reading the other day. This article “fat – free and happy” talks about cultures and clichés. I thought you might be interested because these keywords are compared. Firstly, the author was talking about the thoughts how the USA would look like. This girl had visions of an unspoilt countryside, white churches and houses and small fishing ports. Instead of that, her first impression was rather different because in her mind it was a mess of freeways. Basically, what it says is that Europeans are compared to the USA extremely arrogant. Why do we allow ourselves to think, that we are better educated, better dressed or better informed? Cliches die hard and not fast. What puzzled me most was that a lot of people say that Americans have no culture. But what is “culture”? In my opinion, everyone has another definition of “culture”. Does it mean to know nearly everything about art and music...
