Corporate Social Responsibility
Hey
everyone!
In our last
English lesson we were talking about CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility. Today
I am going to give you some information about.
There are
different opinions about CSR, some think it helps to improve the reputation and
profit margins for companies, others think it just costs money for businesses,
while others think that businesses are doing it to help the environment and the
society and on the other side some think it is just a marketing technique.
CSR has
many different forms, both social and environmental. As an example to use fair
trade goods to create products or to sell fair trade goods, to ensure that no
animal testing occurs or to use less energy and fuel.
In my mind
CSR is not an option for every business. Of course, it is a great idea, but
there are companies which have to focus on core business. Small companies are
not able to spend money on unnecessary frills like this. I totally understand
this, but on the other side it is very well for big companies, as they have
resources at their disposal.
In addition
to that, CSR is the chance to find the best workforce. Companies think that CSR
is essential in attracting and retaining talented employees. A lot of people
say that they would prefer working for a company with a CSR policy, because
thereby staff perception of a business can be improved and it also can help to
motivate employees, like through community volunteering or fundraising
activities.
All in all
I think that CSR is a great opportunity to help focusing on how companies can
build competitive advantage by adding social value to their activities.
Thank you
for reading!
Yours,
Kristina
