Thanksgiving
Hey guys!
We were
talking about Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday in school today.
British people celebrate these days respectively on Friday, Saturday and Monday
in one week. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are essentially the same expect the
date and how the shop sell cheap offers. Black Friday offers cheaper products in shopping malls on
Friday and Cyber Monday offers cheaper products online on the
following Monday. In general the products are 30-60% cheaper. On Black
Friday and Cyber Monday you are able to make the best deals, because almost
everything is quite cheap. The background idea of these two days is that people
start to shop earlier. It is every year on the fourth Thursday of November. First
nation-wide Thanksgiving was proclaimed on 26th of November 1789 by
George Washington.
On Thursday
24th of November was Thanksgiving, on 25th of November
was Black Friday and on 28th of November was Cyber Monday in the
year 2016.
Thanksgiving
is a great time to be thankful and appreciate who you have and what you have.
It is a time for families to meet, socialize and enjoy the presence of each
other.
The story
of Thanksgiving is about British settlers who came to the east coast of America
to Boston. They build a settlement in winter 1620. The problem was that the British only had to eat fish. The Native Indians were so helpful
and showed them how to hunt. Next November British celebrated the first time
with the Indians Thanksgiving for the goods like turkey.
This was my
blog entry about these topics.
See you
soon!
Yours,
Kristina.
