Coronavirus: Portugal grants temporary citizenship rights to migrants
Good morning everyone!
I was reading an article the
other day on the Internet on “Euronews.com” and it talks about the temporary citizenship
to migrants, which Portugal has granted.
As I am preparing well for my
A-level exam, I decided to talk about migration because it is an essential
topic for our exam.
I thought you might be
interested because it is a topic which affects us all and we currently need to
accept compromises.
Basically, what it says is
that the government of Portugal is granting citizenship to all migrants and
asylum seekers, who have residency applications underway.
The reason for this is to
ensure social security and health care during the virus spread.
It is also said that the
people who have been applying for citizenship will be granted citizenship right
until at least July 1.
What surprised me most was
that the army is distributing food to the homeless. I consider this as very
cooperative and polite.
As for me I think it is a
great offer from the government because we really need to stick together in this
terrible situation.
I live in Austria and most
people are following the government requirements. The more we stick to it, the
faster it will be over.
What do you think about this
topic? What does your country against the virus spread? I am highly interested
in it, so let me know about it in the comment section.
Thank you for reading!
Yours
Kristina
