Coronavirus: Portugal grants temporary citizenship rights to migrants

Good morning everyone! I was reading an article the other day on the Internet on “Euronews.com” and it talks about the temporary citizenship to migrants, which Portugal has granted. As I am preparing well for my A-level exam, I decided to talk about migration because it is an essential topic for our exam. I thought you might be interested because it is a topic which affects us all and we currently need to accept compromises. Basically, what it says is that the government of Portugal is granting citizenship to all migrants and asylum seekers, who have residency applications underway. The reason for this is to ensure social security and health care during the virus spread. It is also said that the people who have been applying for citizenship will be granted citizenship right until at least July 1. What surprised me most was that the army is distributing food to the homeless. I consider this as very cooperative and polite. As for me I think it is a great off...

Customer relationships

Hello everyone! Welcome to my new blog entry. I have been thinking about customer relationships and what the best ways are how a company can build loyalty with their customers.   A company makes a very good impression to me when they know me when I visit or call them. This is an indicate, that customer proximity is very important for them. It is also very significant for me, when they provide me with personalised products or services. This shows that they specify and focus on each customer. Another bonus point does a company get from me, if the reward me for purchases, feedback, and referrals. This shows that they value and strive for their customers.   What do you think about this topic? What is important for you? Have you already made a good or bad experience regarding customer-service? Let me know. That is all for today! Thank you for reading. See you, Kristina

Outsourcing – India

Hello everyone! I have just watched the trailer of the movie „Outsourced“, which talks about the cultural differences between American and Indian business life. Today I want to give you some information about the movie regarding the employees culture and outsourcing. Basically what it talks about is that an american guy, who is travelling to Mumbai should learn the people, who are working in the call center, the American culture and mentality. The employees there have an own cultural identity and it is difficult for them to learn the American style. Typical Indian topics like the holy cows or the colourful Holi-festival also play a significan role in the movie. I think it is a very interesting topic, as outsourcing is getting more and more in the future. What do you think about outsourcing?   That is all for today! Thank you for reading! Yours, Kristina

Press review - Jean-Claude Juncker an his opinion about Brexit

Good morning Mr Wartner, good morning classmates, welcome to my press review. I was reading an article the other day in the online edition of „BBC“ news and it talks about the Brexit process and that Jean-Claude Juncker has had enough. For all of you who do not know immediately who he is: Jean-Claude Juncker is a Luxembourg politician, serving as president of the European Comission from 2014 until now. He served as the 23rd Prime Minister of Luxembourg from 1995 to 2013, and was also the Minister for Finances from 1989 to 2009. Jean-Claude Juncker is also very famous for extravagant pronouncements and gestures like kissing EU leaders on the foreheard or playfully slapping their face. I thought you might be interested because everyone of you has heard about the Brexit process and knows how long it already takes. I am sure that it is an interesting topic to get to know more about Mr Junckers opinion about Brexit. Basically what it says is that Mr Juncker thought tha...

Stereotypes

Hello everyone! Welcome to my first entry this school year. Altough it is a bit busy because of our prom night in November sometimes, everything is going well in general. What about you? In our last English lesson we were talking about Stereotypes in different countries. What shocked me most was that 42 % of households in America own guns. Another thing which surprised me was that for every 100 U.S. resident are 120,5 guns. In 2019 has been occured more than one mass shooting per day on average. That is an total unbelievable number.   Another things which were very interesting in this lesson were the thoughts of Americans about stereotypically Austrian. Most of the Americans don’t even know Austria and where it is and if they do, they think it is the same as Germany. Us Austrians put much vulue not to compare us to Germany especially not to think as equal. Another Americans confound Austria with Australia, that is why many think of Kangaroos when they think ab...

Corporate Social Responsibility

Hey everyone!   In our last English lesson we were talking about CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility. Today I am going to give you some information about.   There are different opinions about CSR, some think it helps to improve the reputation and profit margins for companies, others think it just costs money for businesses, while others think that businesses are doing it to help the environment and the society and on the other side some think it is just a marketing technique.   CSR has many different forms, both social and environmental. As an example to use fair trade goods to create products or to sell fair trade goods, to ensure that no animal testing occurs or to use less energy and fuel.   In my mind CSR is not an option for every business. Of course, it is a great idea, but there are companies which have to focus on core business. Small companies are not able to spend money on unnecessary frills like this. I totally understand this, but ...

Press review - biological age compared to chronological age

Good morning Mr. Wartner, good morning classmates, welcome to my press review.   I was reading an article the other the day in the online edition of Independent and it talks about the increase of biological age in comparison to the chronological age when you live healthy. The article was written by the mind-body fitness professional and writer Gabriella Boston and it was published on Monday 1 April 2019.   I thought you might be interested because everyone of us is getting older and I am sure everyone wants to stay young, have no back pains and is awake after 6 hours of sleep. So, let me now give you some information about the article.   Basically, the article is about is how the chronological age does not mean much when you live a healthy lifestyle. It is mentioned in the text that the chronological age just dictates the number of years you have been alive, but it is your biological age that can predict how long you will live.   As we know smoking ...
